Community Information
Community Service Requirement High Point Community Fund

The Community Service and Self-Sufficiency Requirement is mandated by Congress as a part of the Public Housing Reform Act of 1998. This law requires that low-income families in public housing contribute eight hours a month of community service or a self-sufficiency activity, or a combination of both, as a condition of receiving federal housing assistance. Every adult public housing resident, unless determined to be exempt, must fulfill this requirement.

High Point Community Fund (HPCF) encourages people living in High Point to become engaged in our neighborhoods. HPCF is a fantastic starting point for a small-scale project or community group.

High Point Community Fund Goal

Do you have an idea for a group or a project? Just involve your neighbors and you are halfway there.  It can be almost anything. Get a group of people together to learn to cook injerra, start a quilting group, or how about work better with your local school? All these are examples of projects that would work.

High Point Community Fund

Do you need money for your idea? High Point Community Fund will provide up to a total amount of $150.00 a year to support your group or activity, as long as it helps the community of High Point.

How Projects are Chosen

You Can Apply

It’s as easy as A – B - C!

A)    Write your project up on the application form and submit it to Kelly McKinney at Seattle Neighborhood Group (6564 32nd Ave SW).

B)    Projects will be reviewed and evaluated by a group comprised of High Point Service Providers and community members. If you would like more information on being part of the committee, contact Kari Frank at 937.3292, ext. 12.

It doesn’t matter how old you are. However, if you are below 18 years of age you must work with an adult.  You just need to get together with at least four other people in your neighborhood (remember your adult if you are under 18) and plan your project. Complete your project in six weeks and be willing to share your accomplishment at a community meeting.

If Awarded

A)  Complete your project or continue to support your group.
