Community

High Point is located near the center of West Seattle. The community is currently in transition as all infrastructure and streets are being rebuilt, and the old, outdated housing units have been demolished and are being replaced with modern buildings. During the next decade the redeveloped High Point will be realigned with West Seattle's street grids and blended into the residential community.

The community was designed to help encourage communication and relationships among neighbors.

It will eventually include a neighborhood shopping center, a senior village, extensive parks and a new neighborhood center.

The High Point Community Center recently underwent a major remodel and expansion. In addition, a new medical/dental clinic and library opened. To view more about these and other service provider partners at High Point, click here.

West Seattle's residential neighborhoods, including High Point, are varied and very distinct. They offer community-focused events, convenient shopping, parks and open spaces, easy access to libraries and downtown Seattle and views of the mountains and waterways. For more information about West Seattle visit the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce's Web site by clicking here.

Community partnerships and The Partnership for High Point’s Future were formed to advise SHA on the redevelopment of High Point. This innovative community coalition includes West Seattle civic leaders, neighborhood groups, High Point residents, City of Seattle officials and SHA representatives.

In addition, a successful redevelopment involves many partnerships with the public sector, such as the City of Seattle and Washington state, private investors and lenders, local employers, foundations, faith-based service organizations, community and supportive service providers, and non-profit housing providers. Some of these partners that offered invaluable help in creating the plan are the High Point Community Council, Sunrise Heights Neighborhood Association, Morgan Junction Community Association, Delridge & Southwest District Council, High Point Neighbors, Highland Park Action Committee, West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, and West Seattle Kiwanis.
