Yesler Community Center Replacement Housing

A new full service community center opened February 12, 2005 at Yesler Terrace. To make room for this 20,000 square foot facility, 21 Yesler Terrace units were demolished. These units have all been replaced through acquisition.  Subsidy to make sure that the units are affordable to households with incomes below 30 percent of the area median income comes from project-based Housing Choice Vouchers.

The 21 Yesler Terrace units consisted of three 4-bedroom, three 3-bedroom, three 1-bedroom and twelve 2-bedroom apartments. The replacement units have the same mix of bedrooms.

Yesler Terrace residents concerned about the loss of low-income units in the neighborhood requested that SHA replace the units as close to Yesler Terrace as possible. For that reason, all the replacement units are in the Central Area.
