Benefits
The Seattle Housing Authority offers an excellent benefits
package for Regular Administrative and Maintenance
positions. Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits begin
within 30 days of hire for Regular Administrative and
Maintenance positions. See below for a detailed

Four plans to choose
from, with reasonable premium co-pay rates:
Dental
Full family coverage with two plans to choose from; no
premium co-payment
Vision
Full family vision coverage:
Long Term
Disability Insurance
Provides benefits of up to $400 per
month if an employee becomes disabled; coverage provided by
Standard
Insurance Company. Optional Long Term Disability:
Employee may purchase this coverage which provides up to
60% of gross monthly salary during disability.
Long
Term Care Insurance
Optional group
insurance provides benefits for long term care needs such as Home
care, Assisted Living and Nursing Home care. These various
levels of coverage and service options are available at low group
rates through the Unum
Provident insurance company. If

Life Insurance Plans
Employees may purchase the
following insurance through payroll deduction; coverage
provided by Standard
Insurance Company.

Group Term Life: Covers employee
at approximately 1.5 times gross annual salary.

Supplemental Term Life:
Additional coverage of up to 4-times annual income.

Spousal and Dependant Coverage:
Up to 1/2 of employee’s supplemental amount and
$2,000, $5,000, or $10,000 of coverage for each
dependent.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
SHA offers an employee-paid group AD&D
insurance plan. An employee may cover his or herself
or family member for amounts from $25,000 to $500,000 (in
$25,000 increments). AD&D insurance pays a death
benefit if the insured person dies due to an accident, or a
percentage of the full insurance amount if the covered
person loses a limb(s).
Leave Benefits
-
Annual Leave: For vacation and
personal time off. First year earn up to 3.84
hours per bi-weekly pay period (100 hours annually)
increasing incrementally each year of service, up to
7.69 per hours per pay period at 25 years of service
(200 hours annually). Part time staff hours
pro-rated. Maximum 240 hour annual carryover limit
for annual leave.

Sick Leave: For health care and
related appointments. First year earn 3.69 hours
per pay period. Part time staff hours pro-rated.
No maximum or carryover limit for sick leave.

Personal Holidays: Up to three days awarded each

Washington
State Retirement Plan
Participation in the
Washington
State Retirement System plan is mandatory. Both the employer and employee contribute to
this plan.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Employees have the option to contribute
part of their pay before Social Security, Medicare and
Federal Income (withholding) Tax to pay for medical, dental,
and dependent care expenses. There are two accounts:
Health Care Flexible Spending Account, and Dependent Care
Flexible Spending Account. Employees have the option
of signing up in both accounts, or in only one account.

Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET)
GET is Washington's 529 prepaid college
tuition program. Families prepay for their children's
college tuition today, and have peace of mind knowing that
the value of their accounts is guaranteed by the State of
Washington to keep pace with rising college tuition, and you
can use it at nearly any public or private college in the
country. SHA allows employees to set up their
contribution through payroll deduction.

Commuter Train routes, which provide for reduced or

Holidays
For Regular
employees, up to three
Personal Holidays are granted each calendar year (in lieu of
General Election Day, Lincoln's Birthday, and Veterans'
Day), and are available to be scheduled in advance by the
employee with the approval of the employee's supervisor.
Unless specified otherwise in a
collective bargaining agreement, Regular employees hired between January 1 and May 31 are
granted three personal holidays; if hired from June 1 until
November 10, two personal holidays are granted; if hired
beginning November 11 or later, no personal holidays are
granted until January 1.
