Ballard House designated as senior
living
SEATTLE—August
10, 2004—Ballard House will
soon be a "senior- designated" building. This
will allow SHA to offer very low-income seniors the
opportunity to live in a public housing building where
there is a community of seniors along with services to
meet their needs and interests. The U. S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development recently approved SHA’s
application for this special designation at Ballard House.

Three
homebuilders begin work at Othello
SEATTLE—August 20, 2004—Three local home builders—Polygon Northwest,
Bennett/Sherman and Family Pryde—have entered into a landmark
public-private partnership with Seattle Housing Authority to build
and market 180 new homes. The builders have recently purchased lots
from Seattle Housing in the emerging new neighborhood adjacent to
Sound Transit’s Othello Station in

Rainier Vista Design Book now
available
SEATTLE—August
24, 2004—As the Seattle Housing
Authority begins marketing land at Rainier Vista for
private developers to build for-sale homes, the
newly-published Rainier Vista Design Book will help ensure
that the new homes complement the rental housing and
community facilities SHA and others partners are

High Point progress —
construction underway
SEATTLE—August 26, 2004—Since
the June 30 ground breaking, new construction at
High Point has been proceeding quickly and area residents
are looking ahead to the opportunity to move into the new
rental housing within a year. So far, much of the
infrastructure work has been completed, and the Absher
construction crew is beginning to build housing. For
