Rainier Vista lawsuit settled - work will proceed

SEATTLE—December 24, 2002—After an intensive four-day mediation process, all the parties to the Rainer Vista lawsuit that was stalling work on this project have now agreed to a settlement. Demolition work on the project, halted on December 12, will proceed. The settlement agreement brings together the concerns of organizations and individuals, including the Friends of Rainier Vista, the Seattle Displacement Coalition, the City of Seattle, the housing authority and HUD. New waiting list preferences approved by SHA Board of Commissioners

SEATTLE—December 16, 2002—Seattle Housing Authority Commissioners unanimously approved changes to the housing authority's admission policies that will enable need households to obtain subsidized housing more quickly. "We expect that the application process – when the changes are fully implemented – will be simpler, faster, and more logical from the applicant’s point of view," said Kathy Roseth, PorchLight Director.
