High Point a finalist for Rudy Bruner Award

 

SEATTLE—February 20, 2007—The Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence is a national award that bestows $50,000 on one outstanding urban project every other year. The High Point redevelopment is a finalist, along with five other urban sites, for this prestigious award in 2007. Just for being named a finalist, High Point will receive $10,000 that will be used to equip one if its new parks. Click here for more information on this award.

 

Congress passes 2007 appropriations - housing gains ground

 

SEATTLE—February 20, 2007—Both houses of Congress have approved a joint resolution that restores $300 million to public housing funds and adds to the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The far reaching bill, expected to be signed by President Bush, pulls together nine unfinished spending bills funding foreign aid and nearly every domestic agency budget. Emergency preparedness remains a priority

 

SEATTLE—February 20, 2007—The "Big Blow" of December 2006 gave Seattle Housing an opportunity to experience first hand how well its emergency plans work in a crisis. While systems worked well overall, the wind storm showed where some systems could be tweaked and  strengthened. Grant award from HUD to provide support for Yesler Terrace Learning Center

 

SEATTLE—February 15, 2007—The Yesler Terrace Learning Center has provided programs and multi-use facilitated lab time to 300 public housing residents of all ages since January 2003. The busy center recently received a $250,000 Neighborhood Networks grant award from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This will allow Seattle Housing Authority, along with its partners, to continue and expand its support of the center to serve more residents. Click here to learn more.
