HUD Asst. Secretary Michael Liu visits Seattle, presents award to SHA

SEATTLE—June 17, 2003—Michael Liu, Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), visited with local Seattle housing partners today in celebration of National Homeownership Month. He also presented an award to the Seattle Housing Authority for the successful redevelopment of Holly Park into NewHolly. SHA Board adopts budget for FY2004

SEATTLE—June 17, 2003—Responding to concerns of residents and other stakeholders, the SHA Board of Commissioners adopted a budget for FY 2004 that keeps full time resident managers in the larges SHA high-rises. For details of the new budget, click here.

Proposed  SSHP Rent Policy will retain preference for very low-income seniors

SEATTLE—June 5, 2003—After several months of study, a volunteer advisory committee has recommended a new rent policy for the Seattle Senior Housing Program that will allow the program to continue to serve a preponderance of very low-income elderly while also ensuring that the program will remain financially viable well into to future. The Board will consider the new policy at its regular board meeting on May 16. For details on the proposal, click here.

SHA presents proposed annual plan at public hearing on June 10th

SEATTLE—June 5, 2003—Once a year SHA engages in a community-wide planning process to establish priorities and a work plan for the next fiscal year. On June 10th, at a public hearing at Center Park, at 5 p.m., the annual plan for FY2004 will be presented to the community. SHA Commissioners and staff members will be present to explain features of the plan, answer questions, and hear from residents and members of the public.
