CityClub forum on Homelessness co-presented by SHA

SEATTLE—March 19, 2004—Seattle Housing Authority staff will assist with the presentation of a CityClub forum on homelessness, taking place on Thursday, March 25 at the University Women's Club at Sixth and Seneca. Harry Thomas retires as Executive Director; Tom Tierney assumes new role

SEATTLE—March 13, 2003—Harry Thomas, who as served as SHA's executive director for over 13 years, is stepping down in April. Tom Tierney has assumed his new role as head of the agency, and Thomas is preparing for retirement. The public is invited to his retirement party on April 23. Section 8 rent policy change proposed  - public hearing March 31

SEATTLE—March 13, 2003—The Seattle Housing Authority is suggesting changes to its Section 8 rent policy, requiring a $50 minimum contribution toward rent and utilities from each household. The program has no minimum family contribution now. Under the new policy, hardship exemptions would be available for people unable to pay the minimum contribution. According to Section 8 director Kathy Roseth, "Having a minimum contribution is a fair and reasonable way to keep the program strong and serve as many people as possible." Housing-for-sale program enters new phase at NewHolly

SEATTLE—March 12, 2004—Family Pryde Homes has begun construction on eight new for-sale homes at NewHolly, after buying the building lots from the Seattle Housing Authority. Family Pryde is the first company to begin work in this new phase of the program. Rather that building the for-sale homes itself, SHA is selling the lots to private builders who will build according to strict design guidelines. To learn more about this new program, click here.
