SEATTLE—May 31, 2006—Over
the past several months, FEMA has notified many Katrina
evacuees that they are no longer eligible for housing
assistance. To help these hurricane victims make the
transition to independence, Seattle Housing Authority
has offered to supplement the assistance provided from
Washington State for some 49 evacuees listed by FEMA as

15—Even
though some Seattle residents may have recently signed
up for King County Housing Authority's Section 8 Waiting
List, it is important to also sign up in Seattle if they
want to live in the city. King County Housing Authority
supplies vouchers for people to live in King County but,
outside the City of Seattle. SHA supplies vouchers
within the city only. Seattle Housing Authority is
currently accepting Section 8 Lottery Sign-Up forms
which offer a chance for low-income residents to be one
of 4,000 households to make up SHA's new Section 8
Waiting List. Sign-up forms are accepted by mail only.

455 vouchers made available to
nonprofit organizations in Seattle
SEATTLE—May 3, 2006—New
Section 8 Vouchers have recently been made available to
nonprofit organizations in Seattle in order to get
vouchers into the hands of those who need them as
quickly as possible. The vouchers are available through
two Seattle Housing Authority programs and are described
as "agency" vouchers and "project-based" vouchers.

Judith Fay retires from SHA
Board
SEATTLE—May
1, 2006—Judith Fay has served as a resident
commissioner on SHA's Board for a decade, and has been a
High Point resident for over 30 years. She is retiring
from this post, and Mayor Nickels will soon appoint a
new commissioner from the pool of 15 residents who
