Home sales at NewHolly entering new phase

SEATTLEMarch 12, 2004Family Pryde Homes is the first of the private home builders sought out by SHA to build the remaining for-sale homes at its major redevelopments - NewHolly, High Point and Rainier Vista. Family Pryde purchased eight lots on S. Holly Place, in Phase II of the NewHolly development, and has begun work on four duplex units. Meanwhile, all but four of the existing townhouses in Phase II have now been sold. For details of the homes-for-sale program, click here.

Land sales carefully regulated at HOPE VI sites

SEATTLE—January 15, 2003When the Seattle Housing Authority proposed including for-sale homes in its NewHolly development, many were skeptical of the prospects for success. Therefore, SHA assumed the risks of building the new houses, using the profits from sales to build additional low-income housing. Once all 148 homes in Phase I sold successfully to rave reviews, the market value of the project was firmly established. Now the housing authority will sell the lots to private homebuilders and leave this portion of the development to experienced experts. But SHA will do this only with caveats and controls to make sure that design quality and the public interest is protected. To read more about the new land sales, click here.
