Getting Involved

The Job Connection

About The Job Connection

The Job Connection helps people achieve their employment goals through assessment of interests and skills. Each participant develops his or her own individual goals and, with assistance or guidance, develops a plan to meet their employment needs.

Working in partnership with Seattle Housing residents, Section 8 voucher holders, and Seattle residents in nearby neighborhoods The Job Connection strives to increase participants' self-sufficiency through self-directed goal setting, gainful employment, stable housing, and improved access to community services.

The Job Connection's vision statement is to empower residents to be actively involved in their own neighborhoods, to establish a strong network of partnerships, to value neighbors' cultural diversity, and to be educated and motivated to improve their own lives.

For more information or to apply for The Job Connection's services, call or stop by one of The Job Connection offices to pick up an application.

How it Works

After contact has been made with The Job Connection office and an application for service has been completed, you will be assigned to a personal case manager who will assist with the process toward gaining employment. This will include identifying employers and assisting with every step of the job seeking plan.

Once you've received the job that you want, your case manager will help you with wage advancement and promotion. They can also help to continually improve your income and opportunity to advance in your career.

Program Benefits

Computer Resource Centers are located at the High Point, NewHolly, and Yesler Terrace communities, as well the Lake City Job Connection office. They offer access to the Internet and software applications that allow participants to develop and send resumes and cover letters.

Participants receive individual assistance with job-seeking skills. Job Connection personal case managers have contacts to help participants find work in a variety of industries, including, but not limited to: medical, personal care, office, social services, retail and trade.
