In August 1999, the Office of
Housing and Urban Development awarded
Seattle Housing Authority
with a $35 million HOPE VI
grant to redevelop Rainier Vista, a 481-unit World War II-era garden community
in Southeast Seattle.
The
first phase of the redevelopment is nearing completion
and all of the public housing units in this
phase are occupied. Use
