Scattered-Sites Replacement Housing

The Seattle Housing Authority will adjust the mix of housing in its Scattered-Sites portfolio over the next several years in order to run the program more cost-effectively.  The housing authority plans to sell up to 200 of its nearly 800 Scattered-Site units and replace them by purchasing units that are better suited to resident needs and more efficient to manage. SHA will strive to replace scattered site housing in small batches, as units are sold, so that the total number of units available remains relatively stable.

Like replacement housing for other communities, replacement housing for scattered sites will be affordable for extremely low-income households for the long-term.
In addition:

  • The low-density, “scattered” nature of the program will be preserved, with units purchased in non-poverty neighborhoods throughout Seattle, including the north end. They will blend seamlessly into their surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Replacement housing units will be suitable for families with children, with two or more bedrooms.

  • The Housing Authority will seek out new locations near transit, with easy access to shopping, parks, schools and neighborhood services that meet the needs of low-income residents.
