Housing Choice Voucher Program:
Leasing
Continued from previous page
Leases
The initial term of the lease is generally 12
months. Owners use the same lease for voucher-assisted
tenants that they use for non-assisted tenants, as long as
the lease includes: (1) names of owner and tenant; (2)
address of the unit, including apartment number; (3) monthly
rent to owner; (4) utilities and appliances supplied by
owner and (5) utilities and appliances supplied by tenant.
If the tenant wants to start using a
voucher for a unit in which he or she has been living, a new
lease will be required.
