If you are seeking a home or apartment to rent - either with a voucher or without one - you can use HousingSearchNW.org to search for housing you can afford.
There is no charge for this service.
Listings of rental units are updated on a continuous basis. If you have access to a computer, you can search online and print out the listings that most interest you. (Computers are available for free at public libraries and many community centers.)
These listings do not include every unit available to voucher-holders in Seattle, just those that some landlords have chosen to list with HousingSearchNW.org.
If you do not have access to a computer, you may pick up print-outs of these listings at the Seattle Housing Authority at the Central Office.
Or you can call 1-877-428-8844 toll free for assistance in searching for rental housing.
HousingSearchNW.org is sponsored by a group of nonprofit organizations and government agencies. It is operated by Socialserve.com, a nonprofit agency that operates housing search services for more than 120 housing agencies in more than 31 states across the country.
As explained in the Eligibility section, a rental unit is eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) if it meets three criteria: it is properly zoned, it is rent-reasonable, and it passes an inspection based on the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development's Housing Quality Standards.
Any landlord or owner willing to work within the guidelines of the Housing Choice Voucher Program is eligible to participate, as long as they are in good standing with Seattle Housing Authority. More information for landlords on submitting listings.
