New website provides portrait of Seattle's low-income housing through the decades

HistoryLink, in cooperation with the City of Seattle and Seattle Housing Authority, has launched SeattleHousing75.org, a website that commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Housing Authority. The site includes historic photos, a timeline, audio interviews and an in-depth history of the agency's efforts.

Yesler Steam Plant re-dedicated as Epstein Opportunity Center

Yesler Terrace residents gathered with staff and HeadStart participants to celebrate the opening of the Epstein Opportunity Center on May 6. Joined by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and Regional HUD Administrator Bill Block, Andrew Lofton praised the remodel project and looked forward to its new future serving the residents of the neighborhood.

Demolition begins at Yesler Terrace

In preparation for redevelopment, demolition of several buildings within Seattleā€™s Yesler Terrace began this month. Removal will make way for new housing and the Yesler Neighborhood Park.

Mayor Ed Murray seeks two new commissioners for housing board

The Seattle Housing Authority is currently seeking two new commissioners for the Seattle Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Both vacancies are at-large positions. Applicants should submit a resume and letter of interest by June 11.
