Commissioners Bley and Hoffman honored

SHA acquisitions preserve affordable housing

SEATTLE—December 10, 2003—Over the past several years, SHA has frequently acquired low-income properties to replace apartments lost to redevelopment efforts. Recently, however, the Housing Authority has expanded efforts in order to preserve affordable housing and improve the neighborhoods around its redevelopments. Mel Martinez resigns as Secretary of HUD

SEATTLE—December 10, 2003—HUD Secretary Mel Martinez announced on December 9 that he was stepping down from his Cabinet post to pursue a Senate seat from Florida. Alphonso Jackson, who has worked in the housing field for many years, has been appointed by President Bush to succeed Martinez. High Point Plan praised by Seattle Design Commission

SEATTLE—December 6, 2003—The Seattle Design Commission cited the High Point Master Plan as an example of innovation and collaboration among the Housing Authority and its development partner. The citation was presented at special ceremonies on December 4. Click here for details.
