CityClub forum goes "beyond the rhetoric" on efforts to end homelessness

 

SEATTLE—July 27, 2006—Seattle Housing is co-presenting a luncheon forum on Thursday, July 27, entitled "Ending homelessness - beyond the rhetoric."  Assisted by SHA Communications Director Virginia Felton, CityClub has assembled a panel of experts and skeptics to evaluate the realistic effects of current efforts. Othello Station, High Point receive awards

SEATTLE—July 12, 2006—Othello Station and High Point were honored with awards over the last month. Othello Station was recognized by the Pacific Coast Builders Conference at their annual trade show with a Gold Nugget Award for their Best Affordable Project (Under 30 units/acre) category. The American Institute of Architects awarded High Point with one of eight "Show You're Green" Awards at their national convention and design expo. For details, click here.

SHA joins development partners to build workforce housing on Qwest Field parking lot

SEATTLE—July 7, 2006—Seattle Housing Authority has joined Seattle development firm Nitze-Stagen and Minneapolis-based OPUS, as part of a team that will develop four acres now being used for surface parking. SHA's part will be to build and manage 140 one- and two-bedroom apartments for downtown workers. To learn more about this exciting development, click here.

New Market Tax Credits awarded to SHA

SEATTLE—July 5, 2006—Seattle Housing Authority recently received notice of an award of $20 million in New Market Tax Credits. These tax credits, awarded by the U.S. Treasury, are used to stimulate commercial activity in areas where it might otherwise be difficult to achieve. SHA intends to use the tax credits at its High Point redevelopment. For additional details, click here.
