Norman B. Rice
to chair Yesler planning committee
SEATTLE—June 27, 2006—Former Seattle Mayor Norman B. Rice has
agreed to assist the Seattle Housing Authority by serving as
chairman of a new citizen review committee being assembled this
summer to provide advice on possible redevelopment of Yesler
Terrace. Rice will begin meeting in September with a committee of

Budget and Moving To new Ways Plan to be presented
on June 19
SEATTLE—June 15, 2006—A
public hearing for SHA's Fiscal Year 2007 Budget and
annual MTW Plan will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on
June 19 at SHA's Central Office, 120 Sixth Ave. N. The
budget and plan will describe SHA activities for Fiscal
Year 2007, which runs from October 1, 2006 through

344 new rental
units completed at High Point
SEATTLE—June
14, 2006—The
High Point redevelopment is making noticeable progress
on a daily basis. Within the past month, the 344 rental
housing units in the first phase of the High Point
redevelopment were completed and occupied. High Point’s
five private homebuilders are in the process of building
their homes for sale and Habitat for Humanity has also

Demand for
Housing Vouchers remains high
SEATTLE—June 12,
2006—Nearly 6,000 people turned in sign-up forms for the
Housing Choice Voucher waiting list during the two-week
period in May when the forms were being accepted. With
the list now closed once again to new applicants,
Seattle Housing will complete a random drawing to choose
a new waiting list of 4,000 in the next week or so. For
