Yusuf Cabdi and
John Littel appointed by Mayor Nickels to serve on SHA
Commission
SEATTLE—March 14, 2007—Mayor Greg Nickels
appointed Yusuf Cabdi and John Littel to SHA's Board of
Commissioners this month. These positions will fill
seats being vacated by Commissioners Marie Cook and the
late Al Winston, Jr. Both
appointments are subject to the City Council's
confirmation.

Seattle Senior
Housing Program seeks members for Review Committee
SEATTLE—March 14, 2007—A new Seattle
Senior Housing Program rent policy was adopted in 2003
to maintain the program's long-term financial viability
and ensure continued access for extremely low-income
households. At that time, SHA also established the SSHP
Review Committee to monitor implementation of the rent
policy. There are currently available membership
positions on the committee.

Public hearing
on March 26 to consider changing SHA fiscal year
SEATTLE—March 14, 2007—SHA is planning to
change its current fiscal year dates of October 1
through September 30 to be consistent with the calendar
year. This will increase the agency's efficiency by
aligning its fiscal year more closely with its financial
partners. SHA will hold a public hearing on this
proposal on March 26 at 3 p.m. in SHA's Central Office
Board Room at 120 Sixth Ave. N.

utilization climbs to 95 percent
SEATTLE—March 1, 2007—Seattle Housing's
PorchLight housing center has recently reached an
important milestone by issuing over 95 percent of its
available Housing Choice Vouchers to renters. Nearly
8,000 households in Seattle now use these vouchers to
help pay for rentals in the private market.
