High Point receives Built Green
Award
SEATTLE—May 5, 2005—The care
and innovation being invested in the new High Point
community received recognition recently from the City of
Seattle. The High Point design team was awarded a $10,000
prize for its implementation of "Built Green" design
principles.
Mithun Architects, SvR Design, Nakano Associates, and the
residents of High Point were also recognized at the
ceremonies in
March.

Public Housing rent policies
may change
SEATTLE—May 6, 2005—SHA is considering new
policies that would affect how much rent is paid by residents
in public housing.
The
goal of the policy change is to continue to support
residents' efforts to gain employment while treating all
residents equitably. A
public hearing on the proposed changes is scheduled for 6 p.m.
on May 19 at the Yesler Community Center, 917 E. Yesler Way.

SHA identifies more Scattered-Sites to sell
SEATTLE—May
5, 2005—The mix of housing in SHA's
Scattered-Sites portfolio continues to be adjusted in
order to run the program more cost effectively and to
provide housing better suited to residents’ needs.
Thirty of the 51 properties in the first phase have
already sold and the first properties in the second
phase are expected to be listed this fall. For an update

SHA faces policy decisions for Section 8 Housing Choice
Voucher program
SEATTLE—May
6, 2005—Like
most housing authorities across the nation, Seattle
Housing faces growing reductions in federal housing
programs. Over the past few weeks, cost-saving ideas
have been identified by the Section 8 staff and are
currently being discussed with interested stakeholders.
A
public hearing to present the ideas will be at
6 p.m. on
June 2 at NewHolly's Gathering Hall,
7054 32nd Ave. S. in
Seattle.
