Apartments leasing in West Seattle
SEATTLE—November 29, 2006—SHA purchased
the run-down Alder
Crest Apartments near High Point in West Seattle and has
now brought it back to life as a
showpiece for the possibilities of redevelopment.
Finishing touches are still being applied to the
building and open houses in model apartments are
starting this week. Leasing of the renovated units is
underway.

for housing unlikely this year
SEATTLE—November 29, 2006—Members
of Congress return to Washington, D.C. at the beginning
of December to take up their work. And while there are
high expectations from Democratic Party members that the
new Democratic majority will deliver on a more
progressive social agenda, Democratic Party leaders
appear initially to be taking a fairly cautious
approach.

SHA steps up
efforts to issue rental vouchers
SEATTLE—November 18, 2006—As the rental market
tightens, SHA staff is intensifying its efforts to get
Housing Choice Vouchers into the hands of those who need
them. More than 350 people from the new Section 8
waiting list created in May have attended Saturday
information sessions designed to move them through the
process of obtaining a voucher as quickly as possible.
