SHA breaks ground on Lake City Commons

SEATTLE—September 28, 2002—SHA broke ground on Lake City Commons on September 23, a fifteen-unit apartment building on 30th Ave NE in north Seattle.  If construction goes as planned, the building should be ready for lease up in mid-July, 2003.  Lake City Commons will contribute 15 two-bedroom units of  housing for households with incomes below 30 percent of the area median. These help meet SHA's commitment to replace the public housing units lost as a result of the development of NewHolly.  Click here for additional information on the project.

Shirley Bridge Bungalows opens in West Seattle

SEATTLE—September 28, 2002—On Thursday, September 26, 2002, a grand opening celebrated the completion of Shirley Bridge Bungalows, six units of housing designed specifically for people disabled with AIDS. Built on land provided by SHA, this small development responds to the the acute shortage of affordable, appropriate housing for people living with this difficult disease. Also, this opening celebration marks the completion of the first of 481 new low-income housing units that will replace the original Rainier Vista housing units now undergoing redevelopment.
