Pizza, Polling and Participation - an
interactive evening to explore diverse approaches to civic
participation
|
SEATTLE—September 27, 2004—During the finale evening to
CityClub's month-long celebration of civic participation,
ordinary citizens become the experts in an exploration of how
community members can effectively be involved in their
communities.
Event
host Phyllis Campbell of The Seattle Foundation and pollster
Stuart Elway of Elway Research will help participants explore
the varying ways that people of diverse ethnicities, sectors,
economics, ages and perspectives are engaging in their
communities. The evening will combine small group discussions,
town-hall-style feedback, interactive polling, and pizza.
Results will will focus on suggestions for increasing
participation in voting, volunteering, collaborating and
communicating with people across the spectrum of society. |

The
event takes place on Wednesday evening, September 29, from 6 - 9
p.m. downstairs at Town Hall (1119 Eighth Avenue). Seattle Housing
is a co-presenter of the event and is making it possible for a group
of SHA resident leaders to contribute their voices.
