Residents will
enjoy the convenience of nearby shopping and the access to other
parts of the city. The new apartments are five minutes to downtown,
close to I-5 and close to I-90, Brown said. The new light rail
system will run through the center of the community, linking
residents to the airport, downtown and Capitol Hill. Also, the Boys
and Girls Club, tutoring programs, Seattle Public Library and Zion
Prep Academy are all within walking distance from the new
apartments.
Located in a
multicultural neighborhood, the new units offer an opportunity for
those who want to live in an urban setting to enjoy international
cuisine and interact with people from all over the world. The area
also offers many views of Mount Rainier and Lake Washington.
Many of the residents who are
currently living in the original Rainier Vista housing on the east
side of MLK Jr. Way will be moving across the street into the new
apartments. These apartments serve as replacements for the original
low-income units that were torn down to make way for the new
community.
Interested households may apply by
filling out an interest card at the Rainier Vista management office
at 4500 Martin Luther King Way S. or by calling (206) 721-2980, or
by visiting PorchLight at 907 Ballard Way NW.
