Alder Crest Apartments leasing in West Seattle

 

SEATTLE—November 29, 2006—SHA purchased the run-down Alder Crest Apartments near High Point in West Seattle and has now brought it back to life as a showpiece for the possibilities of redevelopment. Finishing touches are still being applied to the building and open houses in model apartments are starting this week. Leasing of the renovated units is underway. Click here for more information.

SHA purchases three multifamily properties in the Central area

SEATTLE—June 1, 2004—The Seattle Housing Authority has acquired three buildings in the central area. These purchases complete the replacement of the 21 Yesler Terrace units demolished to make way for the new Yesler Community Center. The new Yesler Community Center is under construction and scheduled to open later this year or in early 2005. For more details, click here.

New housing acquisitions preserve housing and improve their neighborhoods

SEATTLEDecember 10, 2003Over the past several years, SHA has frequently acquired low-income properties to replace apartments lost to redevelopment efforts. Recently, however, the Housing Authority has expanded efforts in order to preserve affordable housing and improve the neighborhoods around its redevelopments. SHA buys Market Terrace Apartments, preserves Section 8 building

SEATTLEAugust 2, 2002On July 31, the Seattle Housing Authority purchased the Market Terrace Apartments, located at 1115 NW Market St. in the Ballard neighborhood. This 30-unit apartment building houses elderly residents who receive rental assistance through the Section 8 program. The HUD Section 8 contract on this building was due to expire in 2005. By acquiring the building, the housing authority will preserve it within the Section 8 program. To read the press release on this sale, click here.
