Guiding Principles
The Yesler Terrace Citizen Review Committee met ten times between October 2006 and October 2007 to develop the policy direction for redevelopment. The result of the committee's work is a set of definitions and guiding principles around four core values:
- Social equity
- Economic opportunity
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability
- One-for-one replacement housing
The committee adopted these guiding principles in September 2007. They were approved by Seattle Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners on December 6, 2007.
A report entitled "Definitions & Guiding Principles: Working Toward a Community Vision" (PDF, 12.5 MB) is also available (download Adobe Reader). The report also includes introductory material and a minority report submitted by Seattle Displacement Coalition Coordinator John V. Fox and Yesler resident Kristin O'Donnell.
