Job Programs
Working with public housing residents, Housing Choice Voucher holders, and others living close to Seattle Housing Authority's large communities—High Point, NewHolly, Rainier Vista, and Yesler Terrace—The Job Connection helps people become more self-sufficient.
Staff members help people achieve their job goals by learning about their interests, skills, and life goals. They work one-on-one with clients to develop goals and create a plan to meet work and housing needs and improve access to helpful community services.
The Job Connection is a service of Seattle Housing Authority.
Enhance your employability
If you qualify, The Job Connection will help you plan your life and career goals, while also helping you learn job application and interview skills. Staff members will discuss possible job opportunities, help you find and keep a job, and work to help you advance to better positions in the future.
A number of reputable local businesses work as partners with The Job Connection, including Nordstrom, Absher Construction, Granum Inc., and Harborview Medical Center. These companies and many others work with The Job Connection to place people in jobs that provide good wages and benefits.
Achieve your personal goals
In addition to supporting people entering the job market, The Job Connection offers case management and follow-up services. Staff members can help you do many things, from receiving job and career training related to your goals, to achieving U.S. citizenship; graduating from college; buying a home; becoming self-employed; starting your own business; and pursuing English as a Second Language training. The Job Connection will work hard to improve your self-sufficiency.
Receive support
Each of The Job Connection's five locations has skilled staff members ready to support you and help you reach your career and life goals. Staff members use their experience and contacts to help you find work in one of many industries, including medical, personal care, office and administrative, social services, and the trades. They can also work to help you earn promotions and higher wages in a job you already have.
Staff members are also multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and representative of the communities they serve. They help bridge cultural differences and provide the lifeline some people can’t do without in order to reach their goals.
Computer resource centers are available in four communities—High Point, NewHolly, Yesler Terrace—as well the Lake City Job Connection office. They offer access to the internet and software that allow you to develop and send resumes and cover letters.
