Description:

RESCHEDULED:  Please join us for the launch of a new community-created book, Baro Tirinta Af Soomaaliga / Learn to Count in Somali.

Following the successful launch of Baro Af-Soomaali, a Somali alphabet book published last year by The Seattle Public Library Foundation, with the Somali Family Safety Task Force, Seattle Public Schools and the Seattle Housing Authority, the new book focuses on counting, featuring fruits and vegetables.

Five new Somali families from the High Point and NewHolly neighborhoods participated in the project. The families made all major decisions about the book and created 100 percent of the artwork. This time the book is bilingual, so that everyone can enjoy it together as they learn to count in Somali and English.

Come meet the Somali moms and youth who created the book. Food will be provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
