SHA resident and SHA commissioner Rita Howard explores the colors, textures and movement of watersheds in her piece, Riffing on a Watershed, using layers of acrylic paint and paper mache.

“I enjoy exploring ideas, concepts, and the possibilities of colors and textures,” Rita said. “This piece is an improvisation on what is, to me, the fascinating reality of watersheds. Everybody lives in a watershed.”

A watershed is an area of land where rain and other water drain to a common body of water, such as a stream, river, lake or Puget Sound.
