Seattle Housing Authority’s JobLink partnered with Airport Jobs to host an employment and resource event at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The event connected JobLink participants with employment opportunities, current job openings, applications, and the employment support available through Airport Jobs.

“This partnership with Airport Jobs is really important and impactful for our JobLink residents because we’re able to connect them with various types of jobs at the airport and build connections and rapport here,” said SHA JobLink Employment Engagement Broker James Hunter. 

For SHA JobLink participant Greg, the event introduced a resource they didn’t know existed.

“I didn’t really know about this service before coming here. It’s nice to know that there’s actually an organization in the airport that’s helping people find airport jobs, and especially that they’re connecting with JobLink to help with this, too," Greg said. 

The event also opened their eyes to the range of careers available at an airport.

“It’s hard to know what kind of jobs are out there. Events like this show a wide variety of jobs that I may not have thought of, especially because the airport has so many different things that you can do," Greg said. 

By bringing participants directly to employers and employment resources, events like this give JobLink participants a chance to explore career options, ask questions and make connections that can support their job search. 
 

SHA JobLink in Community

The SHA JobLink program currently has a waitlist for enrollment, and SHA residents or HCV Participants who are not enrolled in JobLink can still participate in other employment opportunities throughout the year, including workshops and events such as the SHA JobLink Community Collaborative Career Fair held at the NewHolly Gathering Hall on Friday, Oct. 9.  These events offer additional opportunities to explore careers, connect with employers and learn about employment resources.
