Free fitness classes
Seattle Center offers revitalizing and fun weekly fitness sessions from now until March 27. Strengthen and tone muscles, increase range of motion and breathe through life’s stresses in these free yoga, meditation and Zumba classes.
The following drop-in sessions are open to all ages and experience levels:
This class is open to all ages and fitness levels. Gently stretch your body and breathe your stress away while having fun. The class focuses on fluid movements to increase range of motion and increase joint and muscle flexibility. Bring your own yoga mat.
Morning classes: Wednesdays, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m, various locations
Evening classes: Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m., Armory Dance Floor
Get your heart pumped and sharpen those dance skills in this Zumba class. You can workout to exhilarating Latin music, world rhythms, West African, belly dance, dance hall, pop and classic rock to fuel the movement. No dance experience is required. Please bring plenty of water and wear comfortable sneakers.
Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Armory Dance Floor
Meditation and Relaxation Class
The Heartfulness meditation practitioners offers simple and practical techniques to relax and calm your mind. In a few minutes, you will learn how to feel the lightness and joy of your inner presence, turning your attention towards your heart. Chairs will be provided, but you may bring a yoga mat or pillow if you prefer to sit on the floor.
