Seattle Senior Housing Program
Seattle Senior Housing Program units are managed by Seattle Housing Authority. They include one- and two-bedroom units in 23 apartment buildings in popular neighborhoods across the city. Smoking is prohibited in all Senior Housing buildings.
Senior Housing buildings feature elevators and comfortable, carpeted apartments. Community rooms encourage residents to engage in social activities and stay active. On any given afternoon, a visitor might find residents playing cards, participating in a quilting club, or enjoying an exercise class.
Households in this program earn 80 percent of area median income or less to qualify, and pay affordable rent at one of four levels, depending on income. The head of household or spouse must be at least 62 years old or disabled.
Please note that the eligibility requirements and application procedures for the Seattle Senior Housing Program are different from other programs'.
2011 Changes to Seattle Senior Housing Program
In 2011, Seattle Housing added the Low Income Public Housing subsidy to the majority of Seattle Senior Housing Program (SSHP) units in order to address the long term financial stability of the program and continue serving the same population.
