Art has the power to express what words can’t, connect communities, and inspire people in meaningful ways. We know our SHA communities and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants are full of talented creators, and we want to showcase your work in The Voice and other SHA platforms. Whether you paint, photograph, write poetry, design digitally, or create in your own unique style, we invite you to share your artistry with us. Here’s how:

Submit your art.
1. You may submit one to three original art pieces.

2. Be sure to include your full name. Include middle names or initials if relevant and note any known aliases or signatures if applicable.

3. Note the title of the piece to include the complete, official title.

4. Include the date the piece was completed after the title or in parentheses

5. Share the medium used, including the materials and techniques if applicable. (e.g., oil on canvas, acrylic on panel, watercolor on paper)

6. Provide dimensions – Height × width (and depth if applicable) in inches or centimeters, noting if framed or unframed.

7. Include a short artist statement

Enhance your artist statement
The statement should be between 100 and 300 words that concisely explain what you make, how you make it, and why you make it. Keep in mind that it helps observers understand the inspiration and intention behind your work. A notable statement will include:

  • What inspires you or shapes your creativity
  • Your process or medium
  • What you hope viewers feel, notice, or take away from your piece

Please send your artwork, artist statement and contact details to thevoice@seattlehousing.org. If your piece is selected to be shared on any SHA platform, we will contact you. If you have any questions, please contact shacommunications@seattlehousing.org
