SHA's Moving to Work Annual Plan and Annual Proposed Budget for 2027 are open for public comment now through September 30. You can find various ways to provide feedback on SHA's website and in the Voice.
Seattle Housing Authority is one of a select group of high-performing public housing authorities across the country participating in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's Moving to Work program, which allows the agency to test innovative methods to improve housing services and to better meet local needs. SHA became an MTW agency in 1999 as one of the 39 Initial MTW PHAs. As a participant in MTW, SHA may propose and implement alternatives to federal regulations that increase efficiency and support housing choice and self sufficiency. Moving to Work is not a job training program and does not have a work requirement for residents or tenants.
Each year the agency adopts a plan that describes activities planned for the following year. At the end of the year, the agency prepares a report describing its accomplishments.
