Salish Landing Grand Opening

Former Lam Bow residents, community partners and SHA staff celebrated the grand opening of Salish Landing on Aug. 1. The name Salish Landing was chosen by SHA’s employee Indigenous, First Nation Native-American Affinity Group. The name honors the diversity of tribes and Indigenous people of the greater Puget Sound region and their connection to the sea, lakes and rivers that support life.

Speakers at the event included SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon; City of Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell; Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda; Washington State Representative Emily Alvarado; HUD Washington Field Office Director Gary Gant; Wells Fargo Community Lending / Investment Vice President Eric Logsdon; Salish Landing residents Briana, Theresa and Fatuma and SHA Indigenous Affinity Group member Nancy Mondares. The program ended with a performance by John Etzel, Native name YEXPILEM,  his son Heli Etzel, Native name KÁNTELÁNEW̱, and granddaughter, Jordyn Seymour, Native name TELÁNEW̱OT, from the TSAWOUT First Nation people of British Columbia.
