POTENTIAL FEDERAL IMPACTS ON SHA

congress

Congress passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to end the shutdown and fully fund the government through January 30, 2026. During the shutdown, there was no disruption to our Housing Choice Vouchers or to our subsidy payments for residents of SHA housing. We will continue to monitor events at the federal level so we can do everything we can to ensure our services to residents will not be disrupted.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients should begin to receive their full November benefit on their usual issuance date. SNAP (food) benefits have been funded through September of 2026, so we do not expect any more disruption to this important program in the near future. For the latest updates on SNAP, visit dshs.wa.gov.

TIPS TO AVOID KITCHEN FIRES WHILE COOKING

Unattended cooking is the leading cause of home fires in Seattle. The Seattle Fire Department advises residents to stay in the kitchen when frying, broiling or grilling, keep flammable items away from stovetop and know how to respond quickly if a pan catches fire.
