In addition to our financial reporting, it tells the story of an extraordinary year of providing housing and support services to more than 37,000 Seattle residents. Seattle Housing Authority’s 2026 budget On October 13, the Board of Commissioners passed SHA’s 2026 budget. While we are still expecting a future cut to federal funds, the 2026 budget maintains our housing programs, resident services and redevelopment plans. Government shutdown The federal shutdown will not change SHA services for now, and we will operate as normal. Learn more about potential federal impacts. Resource for tenants The federal government recently created new rules and funding levels for many federal programs, including housing, nutrition assistance, health care, education and other social services. NAHRO honors SHA with four The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials honored SHA with four Community Innovation Awards of Merit in the categories of Affordable Housing, Resident and Client Services and Administrative Innovation. SHA’s Juniper to include affordable housing units Juniper is the latest residential property in SHA's Yesler community. Leasing is expected to begin in November. Interested applicants are invited to complete an interest form. ABOUT THE SEATTLE HOUSING AUTHORITYThe mission of the Seattle Housing Authority is to enhance the Seattle community by creating and sustaining decent, safe and affordable living environments that foster stability and self-sufficiency for people with low incomes. SHA provides long-term, low-income rental housing and rental assistance to more than 37,000 people in Seattle. SHA owns and operates more than 8,500 housing units at more than 375 sites throughout the city. SHA also administers approximately 12,000 Housing Choice Vouchers, enabling low-income residents to receive rental assistance throughout the Seattle housing market. In addition to housing, SHA provides many support services to help tenants improve their quality of life. SHA, an independent public corporation established in 1939, is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners, two of whom are SHA residents.
