for people with low incomes to rent from landlords throughout the Seattle rental market. While SHA administers the voucher program and determines whether tenants are eligible to receive the subsidy, rentals continue to be managed and leased by the owners, who screen tenants for suitability.

 

How to participate

SHA Portal

The SHA Portal is a secure, convenient way for landlords to conduct business with the Seattle Housing Authority. Participating landlords have been sent one-time code to register. If you need assistance, please email Landlord support or call 206.239.1672.

Flexibility and stability - SHA adjusts its rent portion as household income changes to ensure landlords receive full contract rent.

Inspections by certified staff - SHA inspects units at no cost to ensure that it is safe, decent, and in good repair. SHA inspections can identify necessary repairs and be used in place of the City of Seattle’s Rental Registration and Inspection Ordinance (RRIO) inspections.

Helping others in need - Landlords experience the satisfaction of providing people with low incomes a place to live and at the same time gain a dependable source of income.

Robust supply of tenants - New and moving participants can increase your tenant pool. Landlords may also market your units directly to voucher participants through SHA​.

Support with lease enforcement - SHA cannot enforce notices but can counsel participants on complying with obligations.
