Speakers included: SHA Commissioner Paul Purcell, Mayor Bruce Harrell, Executive Director of Housing Development Consortium Patience Malaba, Gov. Jay Inslee, SHA resident Moxie, Seattle City Light Chief Customer Officer Craig Smith and Director of WA State Dept. of Commerce Mike Fong.

On July 29, Gov. Jay Inslee held a press conference in the community room at Sawara, SHA's latest residential building to open at Yesler, to announce the Washington Families Clean Energy Credit program.

Washington Families Clean Energy Credit program

The Washington Families Clean Energy Credits grant program funded by the state’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The program provides a one-time $200 energy bill credit through utility providers to qualifying residents. These credits will be targeted to prioritize customers at or below 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), with the option to expand eligibility to 150 percent AMI if funds permit.

Utilities across the state will distribute a one-time $200 bill credit directly into eligible customer accounts by Sept. 15. Credits will be applied automatically to certain customer accounts, and other customers will need to apply.

How to apply

To apply, visit wacleanenergycredits.com to see if you qualify for the $200 credit. You’ll need to know the name of your utility and your account number.

Some residents may receive an SMS text message from their utility directing them to wacleanenergycredits.com. If you receive a text message, you will see that your account number is already entered when you go to the website.
