Local foundation donates $10,000 and pledges $10,000 more in matching funds to help families displaced by Lam Bow Apartment fire

SEATTLE— October 6, 2016—The Biella Foundation, a small Kirkland-based family foundation, made a $10,000 donation today to Seattle Housing Authority’s (SHA) Lam Bow Fire Relief Fund to help the 19 low-income households displaced by the fire that destroyed their building in West Seattle on September 27. In addition to their initial donation, the Biella Foundation has pledged up to $10,000 more in matching funds to help inspire others to give to this effort.

All of the residents are being rehoused but fled the fire with nothing. Financial contributions to the Fund will help them replace furniture, household items, clothing and shoes, strollers and cribs, personal documents, school supplies, food and other necessities.
Community members who donate to help the Lam Bow residents rebuild their lives will now see their gifts matched, doubling the impact for these individuals in need. Donations are tax deductible and will go directly to the fire victims through SHA’s Campus of Learners Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 organization.
