Did you know that The Seattle Public Library does not charge overdue fines? Overdue fines were eliminated five years ago as part of the 2019 levy, a change approved by Seattle voters.
The Library still charges a replacement fee for lost items, but assistance is available for those unable to pay. Teens and young adults may qualify for a one-time waiver funded by The Seattle Public Library Foundation, while adults have access to payment plans and other options. More information is available at spl.org/Ask or by visiting a neighborhood library.
Additional changes have been made to improve access to the Library. Holds can be picked up 24/7 at pickup lockers at seven locations, including the High Point Branch. Physical books are also renewed automatically if no one else is waiting for them.
