Two new Seattle Housing Authority commissioners have been appointed by Mayor Jenny Durkan and approved by the Seattle City Council. The seven-member Board of Commissioners includes five at-large positions and two SHA resident positions. Michael Diaz and Twyla Minor will serve in the two resident positions. Commissioners are appointed to four-year terms.
The Board has oversight on SHA policies and approves the agency’s annual budget. Commissioners are also responsible for hiring the executive director, a position currently held by Andrew J. Lofton.

Diaz and Minor are replacing former resident commissioners Ahmed Abdi and Emily Abbey. They will join current board members Deborah Canavan Thiele (chair), Dr. Paula Houston (vice-chair), Robert Crutchfield, Paul Purcell and Gerald Smiley.
