Seattle City Council adopts Yesler Terrace redevelopment legislation

SEATTLE — Sept. 4, 2012 — The Seattle City Council unanimously voted in favor of passing a land use legislation package and a historic Cooperative Agreement for redevelopment of Yesler Terrace today. This vote lays the foundation for a redeveloped neighborhood which will serve current residents of Yesler Terrace and generations to come.

Seattle Housing Authority has issued joint news releases with the Seattle City Council and Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn's office.

Passage of the legislation is the result of deep collaboration between the Mayor, the City Council, Seattle Housing staff and many of our residents, stakeholders and community members.

"We deeply appreciate all the effort and support from the Mayor, City Council and residents, community members and stakeholders," said Seattle Housing Executive Director Andrew J. Lofton. "The new Yesler Terrace will be a vibrant, healthy and sustainable neighborhood where people from all income levels, races and cultural backgrounds can live, work, and play together for years to come."
