The Somali Family Safety Task Force released five new Somali and English children's books during their book launch event at NewHolly Gathering Hall on Jan. 27. The Somali community partnered with Seattle Housing Authority, Seattle Public Schools, The Seattle Public Library and residents from NewHolly and High Point to create the books. Speakers at the event included Mayor Bruce Harrell, SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon and Chief Librarian of The Seattle Public Library Tom Fay.

The community-led children's book project is based on Somali folktale themes. Participants involved in the project wrote, illustrated and designed the book series. The books are available at The Seattle Public Library and there's audio versions of the books as well.
