Families and individuals who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may see up to a 40% increase added to their monthly balance. The emergency allotments are in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Households who receive less than the maximum benefit will receive the maximum allotment supplement. SNAP emergency allotments allow states to raise benefits to the maximum for up to two months.
This increase allows for more food spending money for low-income households. Those who need or want to avoid going to the grocery store, can use their SNAP benefits card for online grocery shopping.
