He spoke about SHA's partnership with the City of Seattle to vaccinate residents in our community. ![]() SHA partners with City and others to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics in SHA communitiesThrough a partnership with the City and the Seattle Fire Department, SHA has hosted vaccination clinics at 14 buildings to date, vaccinating nearly 750 residents. SHA is prioritizing buildings with high populations of people of color, seniors and other vulnerable residents who have statistically been more susceptible to COVID-19 and have experienced greater barriers to health care, including access to vaccination. The response has been high, with resident participation averaging 70 percent so far. In addition to its partnership with the City, SHA has launched a new partnership with International Community Health Services (ICHS) to host vaccination clinics throughout 2021 at the NewHolly Gathering Hall. SHA celebrates Black History Month and honors those who have fought for justice and equityFind a list of virtual events and other resources to learn about Black history. RAVE Foundation partners with SHA for Black History Month celebrationsRepresentatives from Sounders FC, OL Reign and the Seattle Storm collaborated on a video, under the theme “Be Inspired!”, that was incorporated into Seattle Housing Authority’s Black History Month programming. In addition, RAVE is working in collaboration with Good Sports and MLS WORKS on an equipment giveaway and with the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) on a Books & Balls event for SHA youth. Books & Balls events distribute free Black-centered children’s books curated by NAAM as well as soccer balls. “It’s wonderful to have partners like RAVE and Sounders FC to help us with meaningful programming for our families,” said Phillippia Goldsmith, Community Builder, SHA’s NewHolly. “Right now, engaging kids in new and different ways is critical, and we know providing our families Black History Month education from the professional athlete perspective will certainly inspire Seattle Housing Authority youth!” ABOUT SEATTLE HOUSING AUTHORITYThe mission of the Seattle Housing Authority is to enhance the Seattle community by creating and sustaining decent, safe and affordable living environments that foster stability and self-sufficiency for people with low incomes.
