No images? Click here Celebrating two new soccer fields at SHA's NewHolly community SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon joined the celebration. The Seattle Housing Authority partnered with the Seattle Sounders FC and RAVE Foundation to build two new soccer fields at NewHolly that will be free for use by all. Hundreds of community members and partners attended an opening celebration on May 24. The free event included activities for youth such as Soccer Kung Fu, Soccer of Frei, Basketball Skills and Drills, entertainment by The Residency and more. Speakers at the event included SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon, Deputy Mayor of Seattle Greg Wong, Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, Seattle World Cup Local Organizing Committee Peter Tomozawa, Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer and major donor Thach Nguyen. Spotlight on Training and Employment About 30 percent of the people SHA serves are of working age and ability and most are working one or more jobs. SHA and its partners create paths to economic security by increasing opportunities, education and employment, tailoring plans to tenants' needs, ensuring access to technology and helping them hone their financial skills.
