Click here Salish Landing, SHA's newest residential building opens with 82 affordable housing units On August 1, the Seattle Housing Authority held a Grand Opening Celebration for Salish Landing, a new 82-unit housing community in West Seattle on the site of SHA’s former Lam Bow Apartments, which were destroyed by fire in 2016. The new building adds 31 more units of affordable housing than were previously on the site. The new community’s name, Salish Landing, honors the diversity of tribes and Indigenous people of the greater Puget Sound region and their connection to the sea, lakes and rivers that support life. SHA Executive Director Rod Brandon welcomed HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge and Federal Communications Commissioner Geoffrey Starks, Mayor Bruce Harrell and others to SHA's Yesler community on August 28 for a roundtable discussion on digital equity. Secretary Fudge announced a new partnership with the FCC to promote awareness of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) among federal housing assistance recipients. The ACP allows people with low incomes to receive free or reduced-cost access to internet services. ![]() SHA-SDOT partnership provides SHA residents with free ORCA cards The Seattle Department of Transportation recently released its 2022 Performance Report showing that 1,950 newly eligible SHA residents received a free ORCA transit pass through the SHA Transit Pilot Pass Program. In 2022, these residents took 360,234 rides and saved over $902,651 in out-of-pocket expenses. SHA announces new Chief Financial Officer ![]() Jared Cummer Jared Cummer became Chief Financial Officer in 2023 after five years as SHA’s Director of Housing Finance and Asset Management. He initially joined the agency in 2015 as an Asset Manager and was responsible for managing the financing and rehabilitation of the agency’s large capital projects. He has worked on various inter-agency committees and workgroups, serving as a technical resource in the areas of tax credit compliance and HUD compliance and regulations. Before joining SHA, Jared worked for the Wilmington Housing Authority in Wilmington Delaware as a development associate, focusing on capital planning for the agency’s public housing inventory. SHA announces new Director of ![]() Bobby Coleman Bobby Coleman was appointed Director of Asset Management in June, 2023. He joined the Seattle Housing Authority in 2015 and was tasked with developing and expanding the agency’s environmental stewardship programs. Since then, he has provided guidance and support to a variety of strategic initiatives and led various operational business units. Prior to joining SHA, Bobby worked in infrastructure planning and facilities management for educational institutions and local governments. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University and The Evergreen State College.
